Follow Yourself Home is a book containing 109 word remedies. They offer insight, deeper self-awareness and emotional first aid. These remedies address everything from self doubt to romance, guilt to celebration, slowing down through to spirituality.

Word remedies speak out loud what is usually buried beneath the busy pace of our lives. They speak to our heart and bring us back to ourselves.

Writing this book has obviously been a healing and enriching experience for Jane. This emotive, yet pragmatice, provocative, yet comforting book will inspire you and you may recognise yourself in her words.

Jane Pujji was named a finalist in the Book category of the 2008 Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust literature awards for this unique and beautiful book, which draws on the healing power of words for inspiration, guidance and solace. They give space for reflection  and present the possibility of living more from our heartfelt values.". Pujjis, is not just a place for the young and hip, it is for any age, any body _ especially the stiff of hip, slow of step, the stressed out and strung out. It is a place of rest, quiet contemplation, relaxation and rejuvenation.
Jane and husband Arvind Pujji run their wellness retreat in Maitai Valley, just out of Nelson. Guests are invited to rediscover their inner mojo through massage, yoga, meditation, good company and time alone, counselling and healthy food.
Part of the treatment is guided introspection _ could it be that you have been at fault rather than those around you?
Follow Yourself Home comprises verse and prose providing ``emotional first aid'', the premise being that the healthy you is home, all the miserable you needs to do is follow the pointers to get there too.
Whether you believe Jane's sentiments are saccharine or heartfelt, gilding the lily or stating the bleeding obvious, she offers food for thought.
Ode To A Competent Woman: ``You can do everything, but why would you want to? Just because you can do something doesn't mean you have to.''
This strikes a chord with many a superwoman. It's a warning and a new way of looking at that perennial problem of being mother, lover, wife, and wage earner _ don't.
As Jane says, ``If I treated other people the way I sometimes treat myself, I wouldn't have any friends.'' So lighten up, give yourself bouquets, you know you'll like them, and you deserve them, be your won best friend and supporter.
On the subject of relationships: ``Love only lives in wide open spaces'' and, she points out, partners are not mind readers _ you have to voice your needs, likes and dislikes _ living and loving together is hard enough without having to learn ESP as well.
And getting irate at his/her obtuseness is no good _ ``we lost our way somewhere between our head and our heart'' _ an argument is a foolish waste of precious time.
Jane's book covers emotions and dysfunctions, recognition and righting the wrongs, healing and hope. Each chapter begins with ``word remedies'' _ thoughts, inspirations, musings _ to be read aloud or pondered over silently. Reflections follow _ relevant experiences, homilies and suggestions on regaining balance.
The healing power of words is easy to believe in when reading this book with its gentle humour and awkward prodding. Intrusive texts help readers winkle out weakness and shore up the battlements, to regain inner strength and confidence because this is not a step-by-step manual, it's more reminder to do it yourself your way so it works for you.
Follow Yourself Home is a beautifully designed, quality publication, beige coloured pages decorated with attractive plant outlines among well laid out text. A perfect gift for those who need time out to get back in sync.

"Each of us gets lost out there in the world at times, caught in our own forgetting. We get distracted and lose touch with the importance of our inner life. At these times, we need to turn around and find our way back to ourselves - we need to 'follow ourselves home'.

And so begins Jane Pujji's book on emotional first aid. I predict this will be a big seller. Only published in November of last year, not yet marketed, and not yet being sold by mainstream national bookstores, Jane Pujji is finding that readers of her book are returning to buy up to 20 (and in one case 30) copies for their friends and families.

Can you imagine the passion readers must have to do that? In fact, that was how I got my copy - friends from Wellington attened the Pujjis Wellness Retreat in Nelson's Maitai Valley for four days. While they thought the retreat was terrific, theyu also fet with a copy of Follow Yourself Home, and another for me.

The book is part poetry, part insightful reflection, part inspiration and part workbook. The ready is invited to think, reflect, and act for themselves. Jane Pujji has written the book both from her own experiences and from witnessing what works for others during her work in the healing arts.

In place of a contents page, there's a Word Remedies Menu (rather like a snack menu) from which the reader can choose if reading from cover to cover seems a little overwelming. This means the ready can zero in on relections of negativity or, alternatively celebrations of the more positive aspects of life. There really is something for every mood.

Following years of ill health and near death astham attackewhen she was 29. Pujji's marriage ended and she began a conscious healing journey that radically changed her life. Jane met Arvind Pujji in 1992 when she began learning yoga from him. She began training in the wellness sector and she and Arvind discovered they were a dynamic and effective team, with complementary talents and skills. They married in 1997, the same year their wellness retreat was established.

How good is the retreat? It has been recognised as the first wellness retreat in New Zealand to be endorsed as a visitor activity by Qualmark. As a couple, they clearly 'walk the talk', and this book freatures highly on my personal five-star rating.
